KARRIE

I have lived in Mobile for ten years now, but the Mississippi Coast is home.  I am a graduate of the University of South Alabama with BS degrees in Accounting and Finance.  I work as a Financial Analyst with Ineos Phenol, an international chemical engineering company, here in Mobile.

LEON

Tall, Dark, & Handsome
Born and raised in Gulfport, Mississippi.  I have now been in Mobile for twelve years.  I received my BS degree from the University of South Alabama.  I am a real estate appraiser for The Holyfield Company in Mobile and Baldwin counties.  I like fast cars and faster women.  This will be my first marriage, and I currently do not have any children.  So, if you enjoy traveling, dancing and long walks on a moonlit beach, then you don't have long before this Italian Stallion is off the market for good.

How We Met

Growing up in neighboring towns, four years of the same college, attending some of the same Sigma Chi/Phi Mu swaps, and sharing the same friends wasn't enough, but we did finally meet.  And now after many good times, just as many hard times, and five years together, we are finally engaged.

Even though it seemed as if we should have met much sooner, growing up in within miles of each other - attending rival high schools with mutual friends - attending the same university with similar majors and going to the same Sigma Chi/Phi Mu swaps and parties, we did not meet until Lori Olsen introduced us during a party.  I mentioned that I needed a date for an upcoming MOT Mardi Gras ball.  For reasons that will go untold, I ended up asking her friend to the ball instead of her.  So, it was a couple of years after our first introduction before the courtship of Karrie and I began.

The Proposal

We were attending Midnight Mass on Christmas Eve at our church, Saint Mary's.  The church was decorated with 12 Christmas trees, some up to 20 feet tall and covered with white lights.  The church lights were dim, but the glow from almost a hundred candles lit the alter and the nativity.  There is a point just before Communion and the end of the Catholic Mass where you are asked to offer a sign of peace to those around you.  It is usually a hand shake, a kiss, or a hug.  But this time, he offered a ring and a proposal of marriage.  The only two people that knew prior was my dad, who Leon asked permission from earlier in the evening, and Father Zoghby, who Leon asked for his blessing just before Mass started.  It couldn't have been more perfect!
